Dolphin Sails has come a long way in 60 years. Starting in a small garden shed, we’ve grown to become one of the UK’s largest sail and cover-making companies.
In 1964, friends Brian Vincent and Pat Webb started Dolphin Sails, racing dinghies and making sails for various classes.
We moved from a garden shed to a cinema building in Harwich in 1983 to accommodate for growing demand. Moving the premises to the Harwich loft meant that sails could be made for boats as big as 70 feet.
Throughout the 80s Dolphin continued to cater for sailing yachts and also made inlets into the windsurfing market with great success.
Our long-standing relationship with world-renowned, bespoke local boat builder, Oyster Marine began in the mid 90’s and continues to the present day.
Since 2002 we have expanded our range into covers, awnings for boats and homes and have a range of travel bags.
Our founder Brian since retiring handed the reigns over to his son Matthew and his wife Kate.
We now operate from our Harwich and Mersea lofts making bespoke, handmade sails, tensile awnings and covers.
We owe our success to our skilled team of sailmakers and dedicated employees, and we eagerly anticipate celebrating our 60th year with you in 2024.
