Description
The symmetric spinnaker has long been the sail of choice for sailing dead downwind, but as sailing technology evolves, so do our needs.
When sailing with trade winds, following the globe’s natural flow of wind and currents, we often find ourselves running downwind. As modern yachts increasingly replace symmetric with asymmetric spinnakers, Dolphin Sails identified a significant gap in the polar diagram.
After extensive design and testing, Dolphin Sails introduced the Tradewind Twin—a sail designed specifically to optimise downwind performance and reduce the need for frequent mainsail gybing. Similar in concept to twin headsails, but the Tradewind Twin doesn’t require additional halyards, making it a simple and efficient solution.
This innovative sail has been meticulously engineered to enhance downwind sailing, allowing Dolphin Sails to refine its flying shape and surface areas for peak performance. The results have been highly successful.
Customers have praised the Tradewind Twin for its excellent balance at the helm and its versatility, as it can be flown up to 40 degrees on either side of dead downwind.
