The Code 0 is our first larger sail used when moving away from the wind. This superb reaching sail fills the gap between headsails and conventional downwind sails.
Versatile in design, the Code 0 excels in many reaching scenarios where the apparent wind can often be experienced, forward of the beam. Due to the high stresses at these angles, Code 0s are often made from specialised laminate materials, giving them a resemblance to a lightweight Yankee rather than the colorful materials used in our conventional spinnakers.
Like Gennakers and Asymmetric sails, Code 0s are best set up with furlers and connected to a tack point forward of the forestay.
