When choosing covers for our boats we often think about OUR protection from the elements, but it is important not to forget all the equipment on board too.
Winches, ribs, tables, windscreens, wheels to name a few, all benefit from bespoke, quality Dolphin covers to protect all your valuable equipment from the elements.
There are far too many options of covers to list here, however you will find a taster of what is possible here.
Please feel free to contact us with your requirements.
Whether your boat has separate wheels and pedestals or whether they are joined as one shape we have a solution.
Dolphin covers are tailored to fit using breathable Weathermax 80 Fabric.
We can also add PVC protection to stop chafe where the cover rubs against instruments, throttle or the compass.
If you have a Carbon wheel we can add fleece lining too to help protect the wheel from scratches or chipping when not in use.
Incorporating leather patches on the edges of your covers will prevent wear on the fabric at places you are most likely to grab onto.
Dolphin can also install leather on many other items including grab bars and rails which will aid grip.
Winch hats come in many standard sizes but Dolphin also are happy to produce any bespoke size and style.
Protecting winches from the corrosive effects of the sun and salt water they are weatherproof and breathable thus preventing condensation and neatly fit onto the winch with their elasticated design.
The cockpit of a yacht can be quite exposed to the elements; consequently, sitting out in the cockpit during these times is normally an uncomfortable experience.
The guardrail area on either side of the vessel adjacent to the cockpit, is perfectly situated for panels to be attached to, therefore offering some side protection from the wind and spray and enhancing your comfort in the cockpit.
Dodgers are generally made from UV stable acrylic canvas and available in a wide range of colours to complement your existing canvas-work.
Nickel plated eyelets are installed, and ample lashing cord or cable ties are supplied for tensioning to the guardrails and stanchions. Alternative methods of attachment are available if required upon request.
Dodgers are also an ideal location for your vessels name or sail number to be advertised.
For an optional extra nominal charge, PVC lettering and numbers can be added to the Dodgers. Our lettering is sewn on to the Dodgers and is available in a wide range of colours, font types and styles.
Furthermore, where possible, we can also add to your Dodgers: cut outs for cleats, winches or blocks. We can even add convenient storage pockets for furling lines and those small valuable items such as a hand held GPS or mobile phone.
In the UK a Dodger is a fabric banner which secures between stanchions and the top guard-wire.
In the US and elsewhere, a Dodger is what we refer to in the UK as a Sprayhood.
Dodgers are not so common these days, but they shouldn’t be discounted as they offer a degree of protection to crew in the cockpit.
They usually affix from the fwd. sloping leg of the pushpit and extend to the first fwd. stanchion can be extended to the second fwd. stanchion. They are usually laced on but cable ties or plastic “Dodger hanks” can be used.
We do not recommend lacing Dodgers along the bottom edge as this usually results in the bottom grommets being ripped out if someone slips and treads on the bottom of the Dodger.
Dolphin also manufacture Stern Dodgers that wrap around the stern of the boat.
