Job Title: Marine Cover Fitter

Location: (e.g. Mainly Lee-On-Solent workshop + on-site at marinas/boatyards)

Role Overview

As a Marine Cover Fitter, you’ll be responsible for installing, fitting, and finishing high-quality marine covers, canopies, and upholstery products on a wide range of boats. This is a hands-on role combining practical fitting skills with attention to detail and customer interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fit and install boat covers, canopies, enclosures, and upholstery on-site and in the workshop
  • Take precise measurements on vessels to ensure accurate fabrication and fitting
  • Work with materials such as marine-grade fabrics, clear PVC, zips, and fastenings
  • Carry out adjustments, repairs, and alterations to existing covers
  • Ensure all installations meet Tecsew quality standards
  • Communicate professionally with customers during site visits
  • Work safely in marina and boatyard environments

Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience in marine trimming, upholstery, or a similar hands-on trade (e.g. automotive trimming, sailmaking, or canvas work)
  • Strong practical skills and ability to use hand and power tools
  • Good eye for detail and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to read measurements and work accurately
  • Comfortable working outdoors and on boats
  • Full UK driving licence (often essential for site visits)

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience with marine fittings (studs, tracks, fasteners)
  • Sewing machine experience (industrial machines preferred)
  • Knowledge of different boat types and layouts
