The Gennaker blends features of both Code 0 sails and asymmetric spinnakers. It’s typically designed with a flying shape and power positioned to bridge the gap between these two on the polar diagram.
Gennakers can be used across a wide range of wind angles. When beam to broad reaching, the Gennaker experiences slightly less load than the Code 0, allowing it to be made from more typical downwind materials like nylon and polyester.
